Custom Tab Folders: Tabbing into Efficiency and Style
Outfitted with special tabs that run the length of the product, tab file folders provide a safe and attractive way to organize documents. Each sturdy tab features a reinforced edge that resists bending and tearing while providing three fourths of an inch visibility when the panel is closed. Imprint tabs with brand images such as company logos or a unique pattern that makes folders easy to locate in a crowded filing cabinet. Select a fold down top tab to safely secure items like a clipboard or a wrap around end tab to hold loose print media.
Tabbed pocket folders come in 59 different cardboard stocks, 24 color hues for foil stamping and three different coatings including aqueous, laminate and ultraviolet. Dare to be different by designing the pocket on the left-hand side, positioning the file tab at the bottom right of the presentation folder. It’s also possible to add a die-cut window for a preview of the packet’s contents or brochure slit for a promotional insert.
Key Considerations for Tabbed Folder Design
- Tabs can be custom designed to feature your own copy or left blank so that clients can affix their own labels.
- Rounded corners give your folder a unique look and prevent accidental "dog-earing" or creasing.
- Fold-down tabs come out from the top of the folder instead of the side and fold down so that you can bind your papers together.
- Although tabs allow the folder to lie horizontally in a drawer, the pockets inside are set for a vertical or portrait orientation. When designing a tabbed folder, you have to be aware of how you want it to be used and design accordingly.
- Use the additional design space created by the reinforced tab to display important design elements like a phone number, company logo or promotional information.
- Design your folder with bright colors or an easily identifiable pattern so that it is easily located.
- Leave tabs blank to allow customers to write on them for their own classification purposes.
- Use a die-cut window on the front panel of the folder to provide readers with a glimpse of what’s inside or expanding tab for a surprise element.
