Jim Gardner and Company's folder isn't a typical design for a mom and pop shop. The shiny metallic silver logo brings light and movement to the dark panels. Two palm trees inside a thick circle symbolize a wave breaking onto the coast of the tax firm's California town. The logo also resembles the moon's shape, creating a calm nighttime connotation. Its smooth texture pairs perfectly with the black linen stock.

The Edward R. Murrow School of Communication used the Washington State University school colors of red and gray for its folder. Ed Murrow's name is vertically aligned along the edge of the cover in an elegant script font, as if he signed it himself. Inside is a stark contrast, as it is a crisp, clean white. The back mimics the cover's color scheme with the school's contact information, as well as logos for WSU and the communication school.

The additional space still holds 8 1/2" x 11" print media, while also accommodating larger or non-standard items. Two pockets are v-split to prevent them from buckling when closing the cover.
